Possible Ferrari Drivers for 2020

With Vettel leaving the Scuderia after 2020, Ferrari will need a new driver. Someone who already has a Super License and can safely pilot the red car behind Charles LeClerc. Who are there options?

1. Hulkenberg-Currently waiting patiently by his phone looking for a call. Can be fast, can be reliable, but completely cursed. 5/10 Prancing Ponies

2. Magnessun- Currently building lego ships in Denmark and waiting for the season to start so he can see just how bad this year’s Haas can get. Knows Ferrari suspension, gearbox, and PU, but could probably collide with Chuck at any given time. 8/10 Prancing Ponies

3. Pascal Werhlein- Current Ferrari reserve and test driver, failed former Mercedes protege. Pascal’s law dictates that a pressure change at any point in a confined incompressible fluid is transmitted throughout the fluid such that the same change occurs everywhere. 2/10 Prancing Ponies

4. Brendon Hartley- Current Ferrari reserve and test driver, failed former Red Bull protege. Another Le Mans winner who just couldn’t make it in F1. 3/10 Prancing Ponies

5. Fernando Alonso- Currently waiting for the Indy Car season to begin for another shot at the Triple Crown. Yeah, Seabiscuit over here will race for McLaren in Indycar, but is without that McLaren F1 contract. He will not be a #2 driver and has already walked away from Ferrari before, which seams perfect for a Mattia Binotto ran squad. 9/10 Prancing Ponies

6. Lewis Hamilton- Current World Champion Mercedes driver. Would be the ultimate, “Fuck-a you-a!” to Mr. Vettel if he could be loured away from the three pointed star. 1/10 Prancing Ponies

7. Max Verstappen- Ain’t gonna happen. 0/10 Prancing Ponies

8. Pierre Gasly- Current Alpha Tauri (what a fucking horrible name) driver and failed Red Bull driver. Cracked under pressure of the big squad, but recovered in the safety of the junior team for Honda’s first 1-2 in 10,000 years. Good friends with Chuckles LeClarc and would like to stick it to Darth Helmut. 10/10 Prancing Ponies

9. Daniel Ricciardo- Staying at Renault. 0/10 Prancing Ponies.

10. Valtteri Bottas - I forgot about the other Flying Finn, without a contract for 2021. After being relegated to being a company man who will play the ta il gunner when needed, he’s the perfect fit for the red team. 10/10 Prancing Ponies. This then Triggers Mercedes to call up either Esteban O con or George Russel as a replacement.

Is Danny Ric ’s contract still up at the end of 2020 or did I miss news of a renewal? If he’s free to go I think his pony score is low. I think he’s probably the best prospect for Ferrari and it would be mr Avocado’s best move as well. Too bad Ferrari can’t run 2 competitive drivers though. H ell, they can barely run 1, their strategy team has been absolute dogsh it for basically the last 10 years. The last 2 championships should’ve been much closer but Mercedes absolutely dominated them even when the Ferrari may have had a bit of a pace advantage, and they could’ve won in 2010 and maybe ‘ 12 with Alonso.

I’ll agree it’ll probably be Gasly if he’s free to leave RB junior, though I’d like it to be Hulk.

OK, that was an overreaction, but Danny-Ric is trickier than some pundits think. Because part of me still thinks Danny is still well within form and can win with the right hardware, but that’s the thing. He can win in Top 3 cars, but he’s not the Alonso type who would rag and flog a shitbox to the points, even if he blathers on about how bad the car is.

Frankly, all Cyril needs to do is just build Danny a better car and stoke him into actually fighting for podiums. As much as I think Danny made the bad call in going to Renault, it’s the team wasting their elite driver that’s making their situation worse.

As a fan of both, that was a painful situation. Daniel’s frustration/disappointment in realizing the futility of his situation at RB in that moment was palpable. :(

I just realized Lewis’ contract is up at the end of this year so I’m gonna say his pony score is low too. I think he wants to drive for Ferrari at some point but he has to be willing to give up the best car/team to do it. I think the only think that supports it right now is some slight waning by Mercedes in their commitment to F1 for the future. We’ll see if the economic situation worsens that.

The difference is, Ferrari have a pretty fluid idea of number 2. The second he beats Charles in a race that standing is up for renegotiation. He was #2 at Red Bull even when he was beating Max or Vettel.

Ask yourself; Which young gun hot shoe full-of-beans up-and-comer has the most talent but not in a top 3 ride? Wh o manages to get on every media event and is Sky S ports darling? Lando Norris is under contract until ‘22 but McLaren could use a cash injection and Ferrari has the resources and motive.

This is a hard call, lots of things could be done if Ferrari was serious about someone, they could negotiate a release.
